Commission #1

The time has come for YOU to participate and create! As part of the Lunge Dance Collective Creation Blog, I will be submitting a number of Commissions that I will need completed in order to aid in the development of Lunge's 2012 New Creation. This is the opportunity for you as an audience to help control and influence what the final product that ends up on stage will look like. Anyone can take part and reply to the Commission by simply leaving your contribution as a comment below!

Commission #1

So here's the challenge: I am currently seeking stock footage from any film (silent or talkies) from the 1920's to the 1950's to serve as inspiration and maybe even incorporated into the New Creation as projection. We need film and LOTS of it!

Details: To submit please a working link to the video, the title of the film, the year the film was created, and any other information you have on the scene or clip. I am looking for EVERYTHING! Hollywood kisses, fainting, dance scenes, technicolor, cartoons, Nosferatu, fight scenes, westerns, I want it all! Don't be afraid to submit multiple clips!

PRIZES!!! Oh yes! There are prizes! My favorite video clip will receive a free Lunge Dance Collective t-shirt mailed to your front door! As well as a badass picture of some Lungers kicking butt!

So those are the guidelines, now get to searching!!! The best clip will be decided on March16th. Cant wait to see what you all come up with! If you have any questions please post as a comment and I'll respond as soon as I can! Thanks for your collaboration!

    1. I'll try and make a contribution:
The first is the famous "mirror scene" between Groucho and Harpo Marx ( possible my favourite scene of all the universe)
      "Duck Soup" (1933)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdQ9jh5GvQ8
Second is from Looney Tunes (very mature I know)
      "Scaredy Cat" (1948)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bDn3G0FSTo
Hope this helps you and everyone at Lunge. I love you all :)

    2. Just some more clips that I found that might be of use:
One of favourite hollywood endings is from "Gone with the wind" where apart from all the emotion in this scene, Rhett leaves Scarlett like a badass
      "Gone with the Wind" (1939)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2RxWs60dRM
Second is is a really great Bugs bunny short. What I love about a lot of cartoons from the early 20th century is the combination of images with orchestra music so that every move of a character is enhanced by great musicality
      "Hair-Raising Hare" (1946)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc2L_7m_4mI
This final trailer chills my very soul even just thinking about it (I've never really been quite the same since seeing it...)
      "Dracula" (1931)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Nfmh178L98
Enjoy! (not to sound too eager,*cough* but I am in need of a new t-shirt and coincidentally REALLY enjoy Lunge *wink* *hint* *cough*)

    "Hold That Ghost" (1941)

  3. Hi :) I hope you got a lot of email suggestions. I was watching all my old movies and most of them tuned out to be from the 1950's & 60's.

But there's Wings (1927 1st Oscar BP winner).I always loved the leads relationship even before the current tread to wonder if the relationship was just friends or lovers. Friendship or lovers it was beautiful.

My favorite old movie is The Search (1948) with Montgomery Clift. You should watch the whole movie and not just a clip. The Children of post WWII Germany and the mothers journey and Steve&Joe's story. You should watch every Monty movie you can get a hold of for inspiration. Even if he only made 17 films and most of them from 1951-1966. Here's the clip of The Search I found online.

  4. I hate writing errors. The boy's name in The search is actually "Jim". I have no idea why I wrote Joe. Just watched the movie yesterday >.<

I watched some old Mickey cartoons on youtube. This one's interesting. It has dance and a not so perfect relationship between Mickey and Minnie. The Barn Dance (1929)
